Amper Group subsidiary Nervion Naval Offshore is to launch an offshore wind component plant in As Somozas, Spain.
The plant, which will start operating in the second half of 2023, will complement the activity planned by Nervión Naval-Offshore in the Port of Ferrol.
Nervion specialises in the manufacture and assembly of fixed and floating structures for offshore wind power.
It said that the opportunities generated for the manufacture of primary and secondary components for fixed (jackets) and floating offshore wind turbine structures are multiplied and result in an industrialisation and modernisation of the serial production of this type of projects.
The plant will be located in the facilities formerly occupied by Siemens Gamesa in As Somozas.
With this agreement to sell the facilities to Nervion Naval Offshore, Siemens Gamesa fulfils the reindustrialisation commitment it made after the factory ceased operations, which consisted mainly of selling the plant to a company with an industrial project that would create jobs in the area.
